Film Screening and Artist Talk, 8:30 PM
Francesca Borgatta is a puppet maker, visual artist, and videographer, and director of the prize-winning “Specter’s Bride” (Prague International Film Festival, Berkeley Film Festival). “Anthony”, a film about a third century hermit, is called by his teacher to return to his city which has been devastated by war and the plague. This tale is told with puppets and masks and a stream of visual images to portray the workings of the inner mind. This film presents a vivid portrayal of the struggles for belief, and the attempt for human communication. An installation of the puppets and sets used in production will be in place for the East Bay Open Studios Exhibit for direct reference to the film
