Kirsten Desdemona Bramstedt is an artist and art teacher in Oakland, California. She has a B.A. in Art and Art History from U.C. Santa Cruz and a Masters in Art Education from the University of New Mexico. She has been an Art Teacher for over 20 years in the East Bay & just retired as a public high school Art and Spanish Teacher. She enjoys the diversity of the East Bay and exploring different cultures while traveling the world.
Kirsten’s art is an amalgam of drawing, painting and collage. In her travels around the world she has been influenced by the artists Degas, Toulouse-Lautrec, Klimt, Gaudi and Niki de Saint Phalle as well as medieval architecture and the psychology of Carl Jung.Her art is based on the ideas of recycling, spirituality, feminism, multiculturalism and the hope for a better world.
