About

Peggy Cotton is the middle of 3 girls raised by a kosher chef dad and a VPBanker mom in Boston, Mass. As a child, a crayon, pencil, or chalk kept her hands creating and her mind busy. She copied newspaper cartoons, comic book heroes and magazine photos that amused and focused her attention, calming the itching and wheezing from asthma and eczema. Peggy's daily drawings led to a lifetime of drawing and painting. She enrolled in after school art classes, studied drawing at the Museum of Fine Arts, was accepted at Boston Art Institute studied illustration, and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from San Francisco Art Institute. Peggy's love affair with creating an image began and with it her curiosity to tryout more. It was through charcoal, graphite, pen & ink, and pastel drawings that led her to acrylic and now oil painting. Each was a new way of quenching her thirst to find another way to express what she felt inside. Corporate life took charge for several years, but Peggy never stopped creating; she even curated a children's art exhibit at her work place, with beverages, snacks and prizes for the young artists and their parents, Peggy's co-workers. She believes that cultivating the beginner's mind keeps curiosity vibrant and alive where it is the spark to creatively express what's waiting to be set free.
