Artist Statement
When I was about three years old back in my hometown of San Antonio, Texas, I remember my parents buying me my first coloring book and a giant set of crayons and I was entranced, delighted and hooked as a new world opened up for me. Making art still joyfully sustains me to this day and I can’t imagine a life without it. Since then I’ve explored both Printmaking and Painting. I am inspired by nature, the spiritual, and also by my Latino heritage. After retiring from the Oakland Public Library last year, where I worked as a Librarian for almost thirty years, I am grateful to have the extra time and energy to also return to one of my other great loves, Printmaking. Thank you.
