Artist Statement
My paintings are entanglements of the natural and manufactured world rooted in wonder and awe. I am inspired by the delicate, organic forms of Kokedamas or moons in a cosmos of my own making, where loose botanical studies prompt an exploration of nature and human influence. In my current body of work, I compose imaginative botanicals using layers of beeswax and resin in conjunction with manufactured nature, such as fake flowers, They are an invitation to the viewer to contemplate the delicate balance of nature and nurture, where our notions of the natural are beautifully challenged and sometimes erased.
