Mari Emori
Description
I was born and raised in Japan and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1989. My artistic journey began in Kyoto, where I created kimonos. After relocating to the U.S., I explored various creative paths, including floral design, interior design, and graphic design, before discovering my true passion for clay in 2014.
My recent "Drop Series" and "Portal Series" are deeply inspired by the beauty and power of nature. From my studio at the Berkeley Potters Guild, I create pieces that reflect my connection to the natural world. When I'm not in the studio, I love spending time in nature, hiking, and wandering, constantly absorbing new impressions that eventually find their way into my work.
Art should be more than just beautiful—it should convey a more profound message and evoke emotion in the viewer. I'm continually striving to push the boundaries of my art, creating pieces that captivate and inspire.
