Lucy Ames

For Lucy Ames, creating a painting is a little bit like a walk in the woods. She approaches her art with a sense of adventure, using experimental techniques along with her tried and true methods, but always hoping for a delightful discovery. A key component of her art is the use of tree silhouettes. These are based on actual trees she encounters on her walks. She makes her own tree stencils and then uses them to create multiple monoprints using a gel plate. Using these prints and layers and layers of paint she creates mixed media works that celebrate both the wonder of art making and the beauty of nature.
