Kierra Stanley

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always danced in the black and white - being bi-racial and growing up in the South meant that I often felt the tension of being in, but not quite belonging to, two different worlds. My work is a reflection of the beauty and harmony I find in contrast - the light and the dark, in nature and the cosmos. I capture the dynamic interplay between order and chaos, serenity and vibrancy. I desire to empower and comfort those who have felt like "other" and to remind us and celebrate that we are both.

I use a diverse array of mediums (ink, acrylic, stone, metal leaf, resin) to create abstract expressions of nature and the universe - with a mesmerizing fusion of fluidity and bursts of color. The fluid characteristic of my art serves as a throughline connecting my work - reminding myself and others that even with the complexities of life, there is beauty in flow.
