Description
I am a ceramic artist living in Oakland, California. I make quiet pots.
I wish for lives to be enhanced by pieces that continue to reveal subtlety with ongoing use.
Using functional ceramics reminds people to connect with their immediate experience through the tactile sensations of interacting with a handmade piece of art upon which the maker has left the residue of her gesture. Clay uniquely preserves the intimacy of the artist's gesture. The hand forms the cup and compresses its lip. The tea is poured, another hand grasps the cup, and lips rest on lip.
I received my Bachelor's degree from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and studied Architecture in the Master’s program at Georgia Institute of Technology. I am self-taught as a ceramic artist and continued to hone my skills in the studio at the College of Marin. I teach classes at the Tassajara Pottery Studio in El Cerrito.
I will be exhibiting at Uptown Fine Art Gallery at 473 25th Street in Oakland.
