Kate Rado
Description
Kate is a plein air painter based in the Bay Area who enjoys dynamic shape language and pushing the bounds of light and color with traditional painting mediums like gouache, acrylic, and oil. She is currently experimenting with vibrant colored pencil techniques and mixed media. The majority of her gouache works are between 4x4" and 9x12" and are completed in one sitting, either from location, reference, or still life. Kate also works full time as an art director in video game development, and she likes the creative influence and interplay of digital stylized work and traditional painting techniques and is always exploring new approaches with her work. She is currently art directing a new game title for Timberline Studio, she is a proud studio member at Firehouse Gilman Art Collective, and she teaches a gouache workshop through Warrior Art Camp. Kate is passionate about cultivating creative community and building up and encouraging future generations of artists to find their unique voice. She lives in Albany, CA, with her wife and daughter.
