Joey Rose

Joey Rose was born in the East Bay and raised in a small town: Latrobe, CA. He found his passion for public art upon moving back to Oakland as a student at California College of the Arts, graduating with a BFA in Illustration in 2017. His practice is focused primarily on painting site-specific murals, many of which can be found across the Bay, including: Berkeley, Emeryville, Dublin, Alameda, San Rafael and Santa Cruz. Recently, Joey has been dipping his toes in studio painting and is excited to be participating in East Bay Open Studios for the first time!

Joey is also an accomplished community organizer. Since 2019, He has worked with the non-profit Pangeaseed Foundation, as an artist in Maui, an operational team member in Santa Cruz, and in 2022 as Co-Director and Producer of Sea Walls Artists for Oceans Emeryville: a mural festival consisting of 17 artists from around the world painting 15 ocean-focused murals spread across the city.
