Betty Friedman
December 2 + 3 11–5
I am an Oakland based artist who makes vibrantly colored unique paper for my own chine collé and intaglio monoprints. I am inspired by jewel tones in nature and art history in general for these abstract compositions. Techniques used to make these pieces date back to the 1400s in Europe.
As paper is the vehicle for ink in printmaking, it has a great impact on how a print looks. I can make any size, texture, color or weight paper that I need. My handmade paper is very strong and can tolerate many passes through my etching press. It prints beautifully! Sizes vary from 11 to 90 inches. My paper pieces appear in museum, corporate and private collections. See more of my work on the web at www.bettyfriedmanart.com
