Karen Sanford

I am a ceramics artist working with slabs to construct functional food service and unique one-of-a-kind pieces. I like to create crisp, clean forms, frequently juxtaposing curves and edges. Texture and color are used to add interest and accentuate aspects of the work. I am interested in nature and architecture, thus the form of my pieces frequently reflect architectural structures and colors may be directly inspired by nature. I was an art teacher for 20 years and I am now working from my home studio in Orinda.
