S E C O N D Language, with original collages from Rome posters, was acquired by the Beinecke Library (Yale University) Artists’ Books collection. Copies are in the Stanford, Brown, and University of Delaware Special Collections. She has exhibited in Berkeley, San Francisco, and Rome. Media exhibited include paintings, collages, and monoprints. Her work is in numerous private collections.

JoAnn Ugolini’s recent paintings, drawn from landscapes of Italy and California, as well as life on the streets of Rome, are a lifelong meditation on cubist form, contrasting color, and interrupted movement. Her collages are constructed from fragments of drawings or Roman posters pulled from the walls of Rome. Overlain pieces build a strata of time and visual language, interrupted lines and forms, and spontaneous fields of color.
