
Anita Sulimanovic

Anita Sulimanovic is a visual artist and educator working in a broad range of art materials and processes. She moved to the SF Bay Area in 2014 and founded “Studio 1.6” Art School where she teaches and makes art. She will be showing over a hundred of drawing, painting and sculptural pieces.
Born in Croatia, she studied painting at the School of Applied Art, completed her BFA studies in sculpture at the Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts and graduated with an MFA in Sculpture at the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland.
Anita’s work has been shown locally and internationally, most recently Transmission Gallery and The Drawing Room in San Francisco; she’s also exhibited in Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Poland, South Korea, and the UK. She received the ARTogether Mini Grant Award, the Honorary AIR Award at Kala Art Institute, as well as the IMA-Fellowship of the New York Foundation for the Arts. She is the designer of the “Planet Award” sculpture for the BBC World Music Awards and she made five public sculptures in the US and Europe. She has taught visual arts at Oakland School for the Arts and at Kala Art Institute.
